Body as Water

Making my hot water bottle:

filling the jug with water from the tap

that is from dam somewhere out west

and putting the jug on to boil

to then fill up my hot water bottle up

to keep myself warm for two hours

or so every night in the winter
and after some times

Where does the water come from?

Once the water is inside the hot water bottle
it becomes rubbery

I can only use it for certain things

I want to keep warm

This a small labor to keep warm

It is a labor none the less

Surely my flat is insulated

Warmth feels essential to survival

Shelter

Protection

I think about insulation and its many potentials

What does it look like

What does it feel like

A bath or a foam mattress

A curtain

These depend on interaction
or stimulation.

They depend on a need based on a lack

Containers

Vessels.. but more containers

A subordination of energy or matter

A hose pushing water out through a long tube

My body is a container of many things

So is a home

My body is a container of water

Water is a body of many homes

Water as Body. Body as Water

We are made of water.. and insulating all ourselves always

or seeking to..

Insulation as comfort.

As something that is faceless

Anonymous.

But also as a really familiar climate.

Water is consuming and everywhere.

When water is not there, we bring it there.

We organise water.

We domesticate water.

We do the same with warmth

The consequences of survival

and resistance

is resolved when objectified
productively with everyday things

e.g a fan, tarpaulin, rope
